Food Truck FAQ

Planning to bring the Lo & Slo food truck to your event? Here are the questions we’re asked most often. If your plans are a little different, send us an enquiry and we’ll talk it through.

What makes our food truck service different?

We are more than a food truck. We're an award-winning catering company specialising in weddings, private celebrations and corporate events. Every booking is backed by thoughtful planning, quality ingredients and over a decade of hospitality experience, with fire used where it enhances flavour and the guest experience.

What events do you cater for?

We cater for weddings, private celebrations, corporate events and festivals, from intimate gatherings to feeding hundreds. We've cooked at The Open at Royal Portrush, Derry's Halloween celebrations and the Foyle Maritime Festival, as well as hundreds of private events.

How much does catering cost?

Our food truck menus start from £20 per person for local Derry events with a supplement for events further afield, based on a minimum of 70 guests and two protein choices.

The supplement reflects the additional time, staffing and logistics involved in taking the truck further from our base. Additional travel charges apply will always be clearly included in your quote.

Is there a minimum booking value?

Yes. Our standard food truck booking is based on a minimum of 70 guests.

Do you cater midweek or smaller events?

Sometimes, subject to availability.  Depending on the date, location and what you need, we may be able to offer a suitable alternative.

How do the two protein choices work?

For two-protein menus, we prepare enough for your confirmed guest numbers, split roughly evenly between both choices, with a small buffer.

For example, 70 guests might mean around half burgers and half pulled pork, rather than 70 of each, so choices are available while stocks last. Please make sure your guests understand this in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you’d like one protein guaranteed for everyone, just let us know and we can increase the quantities and quote accordingly.

Vegetarian and vegan options are prepared separately and must be pre-booked.

How do I book?

Simply complete our enquiry form with a few details about your event. We'll confirm availability, discuss your plans and prepare a bespoke quotation. Once you're happy to proceed, a 50% booking payment secures your date.

When is the final balance due?

A 50% booking payment secures your booking, with the remaining balance due four weeks before your event. If you're booking within four weeks of your event, full payment is due at the time of booking.

When do I need to confirm my menu and guest numbers?

Final guest numbers and menu choices are confirmed four weeks before your event. We order fresh ingredients and schedule our team based on these numbers, so the confirmed guest count becomes the minimum number we'll charge for. If your numbers increase afterwards, we'll always do our best to accommodate them.

Can I customise the menu?

Our food truck operates with a carefully curated menu designed to deliver exceptional food at speed. This helps us maintain quality, reduce waste and keep service running smoothly for every guest.

If you're planning a larger celebration or looking for something more bespoke, we'd be delighted to explore a custom menu or live-fire dining experience with you.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. We offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and we're happy to accommodate dietary requirements wherever possible. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.

While we take allergens seriously, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment due to the nature of our kitchens and shared preparation areas

What is included?

Every booking includes careful communication and planning, fresh preparation, travel to your venue, set-up, professional service from our fully equipped food truck and complete clean-up afterwards. We'll work closely with you throughout the planning process to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

What does my venue need to provide?

For food truck events we require safe vehicle access and exit path, solid level parking ground and a standard 240V power supply for lighting. We'll discuss any site requirements with you before your event to make sure everything runs smoothly.

How many guests can you serve?

Our food truck typically serves around 70 meals per hour at a private event, depending on your chosen menu, guest flow and site conditions. We'll recommend the best service plan for your event.

How long is food service?

Once service begins, we serve continuously until all guests have been fed. For around 70 guests, this usually takes approximately one hour.

We don’t prolong service or keep the hatch open for late arrivals, so we strongly recommend letting your guests know the food service time in advance to avoid disappointment.

Once the agreed service is complete, we’ll close the hatch and begin packing down.

How far do you travel?

We're based in Derry~Londonderry and regularly cater throughout Northern Ireland, Donegal and beyond. Tell us where your event is and we'll include any travel supplement in your quote.

Is there a travel charge?

Travel is included in Derry city. Further afield, we add one flat fee per event. It begins at £75 and may increase depending on your event location. It covers our crew's time on the road, so the same experienced team who cook for you are paid fairly for the whole day, not just the service. It's never charged per guest or per mile, and it's always shown on your quote.

What happens if I need to change or cancel my booking?

We understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to change your date, we'll always do our best to accommodate you, subject to availability.

If you need to cancel, our cancellation policy reflects the planning, staffing and supplier commitments already made for your event. Full details can be found in our Booking Terms.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We regularly cook outdoors and are well prepared for changing weather conditions. If severe weather or unsafe site conditions prevent us from operating safely, we'll work with you to reschedule or find the best solution.

Are you insured?

Yes. We hold public liability insurance and all relevant food hygiene certifications. Insurance certificates are available on request.
